Chestnut Grove Baptist Church

Coronavirus Statement and Action Plan

UPDATE

March 21, 2020

Psalm 91:1, 2 states “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust.” Thusly, you are strongly urged to put your confidence in our God and know He is a very present help in trouble.

PRECAUTION REMINDERS:

  1. Practice good handwashing techniques
  2. Cover your mouth when you cough/sneeze
  3. Stay home if you’re feeling sick
  4. Reframe from hugging and shaking hands; waving, shoulder bump and the “I see you sign” are more appropriate ways of greeting at this time.
  5. Persons who are eighty-plus years of age with chronic health conditions are asked to stay home.

Per conversation/communication with Athens-Clarke County Chief and Deputy Police Chief, I am being strongly urged to do worship service via live streaming and/or facebook live.  Thusly, I am asking no one come to the church for services with the exception of the worship leader, musician and tech support.  Again, the sanctuary will not be open for services beginning tomorrow, March 22, 2020 and until further notice.

Pray fervently that this pandemic end soon, stay home and catch us on Facebook Live and/or Live Streaming, beginning tomorrow, March 22nd and until further notice.  We will keep you updated as things seem to change daily.  Shelter with Him.  He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)

OUR CHURCH

We are based, rooted, and grounded in Christ Jesus, our newly renovated church has stood for over 143 years as a focal point within the Athens community guiding men, women, boys, and girls into a loving relationship with Jesus.

Faith stands at the center of our church as the key ingredient in acceptingbelieving, and receiving God’s promises for over one hundred years. “For with God nothing shall be impossible,” Luke 1:37.

Our church family is lead by Pastor Wilson Lattimore, Jr. We believe that Christ is the head, the Pastor is our leader, and as members we are the children of the family – working everyday to grow closer to God.

As members of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, we are SURRENDERED to God through Jesus, STRENGTHENED by the Holy Spirit through prayer, study, and fellowship, and empowered to SERVE through the gift of ministry.
